A candlelit library: leather armchairs around a table with open books, a vase of dark flowers and shelves to the ceiling.

Community

Read alone.
Belong somewhere.

Slowburn is building a reader community around taste, not popularity. It starts close and intentional, and it grows outward from there.

Available now

  1. Circle

A few people you invited one at a time. No profiles to browse, no followers, no feed. You hand them a book, a verdict, a month, and only what you hand them.

  2. Buddy Reads

Two of you inside the same book, leaving notes at the page you’re on. Each note stays sealed until the other reader gets there.

  3. Sharing

A review, a burn, an identity, a month, as a card, through your phone’s own share sheet. You choose what you share, field by field.

  4. Shape Slowburn

The public board of what’s coming. Readers vote and send ideas; the founder decides and says why.

  5. Safety

Block, remove, report. A person reads every report. The rules are short, public, and the same for everyone.

Two chairs at a small round table: one candle, two glasses of red wine, an open book with a ribbon and two sealed letters.
Starting a circle: choosing a handle that is separate from the journal.
A Buddy Read: two readers' positions on the same page bar, with a sealed note waiting.

Where we’re heading

A social home for romance readers, built around taste.

The private reading identity becomes, when you choose, a public one. This next chapter is being built now and is not live yet: in this order roughly, and in the open on Shape Slowburn.

  • Reader profiles and pen names
  • Public reading identities, by choice
  • Reviews that stay findable
  • Recommendations from shelves you trust
  • Book discussions that outlast a feed
  • Creator discovery
  • Discovery through taste, not follower count
  • A genuine social and forum layer for romance fans

The rules

Short, public, and the same for everyone.

Harassment, threats, hate, unwanted sexual content, spam, impersonation and misusing what someone shared with you are the things not allowed. Block is instant and silent. Report sends only the thing you reported. A person reads it. None of it ever touches anyone’s journal.
