A desk under a lamp: rows of handwritten index cards laid out in a grid, a sealed note, a pen and a candle.

Shape Slowburn

You’re early.
That’s the point.

The first readers aren’t arriving after everything has been decided. This is the board Slowburn is built from: what shipped, what’s being built, what’s being weighed, and how many readers asked for it.

  • The Slowburn Library

    0 votes

Every book deserves a page — and romance deserves more than a title, a cover and a star rating. We're building Slowburn's own book library: a universal catalogue that grows from the books readers actually care about, with richer romance-native context around tropes, heat, reader reviews, creator takes and more. The app can already find and journal books from across genres. The next step is giving those books a home on Slowburn itself.

Ideas being weighed. Votes count here.

  • Back up my shelf

    0 votes

Today the journal lives on your phone and rides along in the phone's own backup. A Slowburn backup would have to keep the privacy promise, which means encryption designed first.

    journal

  • Series tracking

    0 votes

Which book of the series this is, what is next, and what you have not got to yet.

    journal

  • Reread history

    0 votes

Every time you read a book, kept as its own read, with its own rating, Burn and notes.

    journal

  • My limits

    0 votes

Things you would rather know about before you start, kept separately from what you note about a book, and used only to warn you.

    journal

  • Book clubs

    0 votes

Named groups with an owner who can invite and remove, beyond the one-to-one circle.

    community

  • Hear when an idea you voted for moves

    0 votes

A quiet note when something you voted for changes state, opens a beta or ships.

  • The Burn

    in 1.0

A five-flame dial you tap while you read. Slowburn keeps every tap, draws the curve, and names its shape when you finish.

    journal

  • Reading Identity

    in 1.0

Ten insights, each a plain function of your journal, each saying how many books it rests on.

    journal

  • Monthly Post-Mortem

    in 1.0

A dossier on every month: the body count, your type, the one that ruined you.

    journal

  • Circle

    in 1.0

A few people you invited one at a time. A handle separate from your journal, and only what you hand over.

    community

  • Buddy Reads

    in 1.0

Two of you inside the same book. Notes stay sealed until the other reader reaches the page.

    community

  • Home-screen widgets

    in 1.0

Your current read, where you are in it, the line you saved and how it is burning. iPhone and Android.

    app

  • Import from Goodreads and StoryGraph

    in 1.0

Bring the history that exists. What your old shelf knew comes across; what it did not stays blank rather than guessed. Your export file never leaves your phone.

    journal

  • Export your journal

    in 1.0

Everything in your journal as one JSON file, or your books as a spreadsheet. Private, local, portable, yours.

    journal

  • Content notes

    in 1.0

What you noticed was in a book, recorded privately on each read, in your own words where you want them.

    journal

  • Tropes in your own words

    in 1.0

Thirty-eight tropes to pick from, and an Other… for the ones Slowburn has no word for yet.

How it works

Vote in the app. Send an idea. Watch it move.

Every reader can see this board. Premium readers vote on what should come next and send their own ideas, from Stats → Shape Slowburn in the app. Votes belong to a reader’s identity there, which is why there’s no vote button on this page: a count nobody could game is worth more than a bigger one.

Vote counts are shown as they are. They inform the order; the founder decides, and says why, in a note on the item when it moves.
